Back in August at the famed Bonneville Salt Flats, the Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid set the mark for the fastest top speed of a hybrid vehicle. It was a very impressive accomplishment, but Volkswagen felt it could do better. That’s why it went for the record one more time, and pulled off the feat once more. Of course, it’s no surprise to us at Lindsay Volkswagen of Dulles.
That’s because the Jetta Hybrid, along with all other hybrids in the new Volkswagen lineup have proven to be powerful roadsters that offer top-notch fuel economy, but not at the cost of performance.
In August, the hybrid edition of the 2013 Jetta set the standard, turning in a performance of 185.394 miles per hour. While nobody would scoff at that number, VW wanted to give it one more go. It took that chance at the SCTA World Finals in October, and put the pedal to the metal to best its previous mark. And, of course, it did, topping out at 187.147 mph, with an overall average of 186.313 mph.
