Ford Invites European AppLink Partners

There’s a lot to love about all of the new Ford models that we have here at our Wheaton, MD showroom, but one feature that many of our customers unexpectedly fall in love with is the SYNC AppLink feature.  It’s an entertainment option that allows for integration of popular apps like the online radio station Pandora so you can have a more enjoyable, customized music-listening session that what your local radio station can provide.  We love Pandora, but sometimes the ads can ruin our groove, but we just found out that those who opt for the feature can listen to their favorite music ad-free until the end of the year.  Read on to learn more.

Now you can sing along to your favorite songs from R&B, country, or whatever genre you prefer without being interrupted by ads.  Ford and Pandora have partnered up to help raise customer awareness about SYNC AppLink and all that it can bring to your traveling experience.

If you aren’t familiar with this popular program, allow us to explain how Pandora works: when you begin your session, you can select a certain song, artist, or genre, and the application will play a radio station based on your input.  If you like a song, you can ‘like’ it and it will know to play more in that vein, but if you hate something, you can tell it that, too, and it will be sure to never assault your ears with that particular song ever again.

The feature is available on most of the new vehicles here at Lindsay Ford, such as the Fusion and Mustang, so come down to check it out for yourself today.

The new 2014 Chevrolet Malibu will be hitting our Woodbridge, VA showroom this fall, and we couldn’t be more excited. From what we’ve seen, the new model has improved on the outgoing variant with better fuel economy, more back seat leg room, and redesigned front end. However, these changes wouldn’t have been possible without a little input from the company’s customers.

What did drivers want in the new car? Here are a few examples.

Responding to the need for a more fuel efficient engine, Chevrolet responded in kind by fitting the 2014 Malibu with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that improves miles per gallon for city and highway by 5 and 3 percent (that’s 23 mpg and 35 mpg respectively). This engine will come standard with the model and allow for fewer stops at the pump.

Customer commentary also led to several choice tweaks of the interior as well, such as a pair of integrated smart phone holders for driver and passenger, and reshaping the seat backs and rear cushions to greater comfort. In addition, Chevrolet also managed to add in an extra 1.25 inches of leg room in the new Malibu, which will certainly come in handy for back seat passengers on longer drives.

And as far as handling? The manufacturer had a close look at the suspension and gave it a few updates, allowing for better driving dynamics and an even smoother ride.

Keep an eye on our blog to find out when the 2014 Malibu arrives at Lindsay Chevrolet. In the meantime, we have a whole lot full of other great new Chevys for you to check out. Use the live chat feature on our website for immediate questions, and don’t hesitate to call us or stop by to set up a test drive.

With the growing pace of hybrid technology in the automotive industry, it always seems like there are new categories of records to be broken in terms of clean, efficient travel. But as Volkswagen has proven, a fuel-sipping car with a low carbon footprint doesn’t necessarily have to be a hybrid. They’ve proved this with the Passat TDI, which uses clean diesel fuel and clocks an average of 43 miles per gallon.

And now, they’re using the car to set a Guinness World Record.

The challenge? Volkswagen will send the Passat on an 8,000-mile trek across all of the lower-48 states in America and back with the lowest possible fuel consumption for a non-hybrid vehicle. A little much, you say? Well, with a 43 mpg car that can go up to 795 miles on one tank of gas (that’s 10 fill-ups total for the trip), we at Lindsay Volkswagen think it’s definitely possible.

Behind the wheel for this awesome trek will be cleanmpg.com founder, Wayne Gerdes, and conservationist specialist and electrical engineer, Bob Winger, serving as navigator.

To achieve the maximum output for their go at the record, the sedan will be fueled with ultra-low-sulfur diesel and Continental PureContact with EcoPlus tires for reduced rolling distance and increased fuel economy respectively. In addition, the car is also fitted with Linear Logic ScanGauge and Droid RAZR MAXX HD smartphone to track their progress.

You can bet your bonnet we’ll be following the progress of this record attempt from here in Sterling, VA and will be updating our blog as we find out more. For information about how you can own a 2013 Volkswagen Passat sedan, get in touch with us through our website’s live chat, call us by phone, or stop by our showroom anytime during business hours.

Ladies and gentlemen, hold onto your hats. The 2014 CTS is coming to Lindsay CADILLAC, and its set to take your world by storm.

That’s right, folks. The new coupe is arriving at our Alexandria, VA dealership this October and with a whole slew of new features and improvements–from the cabin to the powertrain, technology and design.

It would be remiss not to start the improvements CADILLAC has made to the exterior presentation. This model is 244 pounds lighter than its predecessor, although the body of the car has been lengthened a bit. Otherwise, it still sports the sleek, powerful look you expect from the CTS, with its impossible-to-ignore grille and insignia leading the way.

The outward classy attitude is underpinned by quite a bit of power under the hood. The CTS has the option of three different powertrains and two different engines: a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that pumps out 272 hp and a 3.6-liter V-6 that reaches 420 hp when the premium Vsport model package is added. The former is worthy of note for its 0-60 performance, which it reaches in just 6.1 seconds, a 1.5 second improvement over its predecessor.

The 2014 CTS model’s driver-focused interior has also received some updates, among them heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, the CADILLAC CUE system with an 8-inch touchscreen, and “Automatic Parking Assist,” a first for any vehicle in this brand.

October may seem like a ways off, but that’s no reason to wait to try a new CADILLAC. You can familiarize yourself with the 2013 CTS today, and see the changes for yourself when the new model debuts in the fall. Visit our dealership, located conveniently at 1525 Kenwood Avenue and set up a test drive at your convenience.

Here at Lindsay Chevrolet we have a soft spot in our hearts for cars that morph into giant alien robots. That said, when we found out that one of the manufacturer’s models, the Sonic would be featured in the upcoming Transformers 4, we couldn’t help but let our collective minds go wild.

Aside from the news of the car itself and the cast, there’s very little we know about the new movie, let alone which robot the Sonic will be paired with. The only real hint we have is a quote from Michael Bay, who called the car “just pure fun,” which leads us to believe it may be the counterpart of one of the more comedic characters, such as Skidz or Mudflap.

As for the rest of the vehicular cast, there are some other Chevrolet models features, such as the Camaro SS, Corvette Stingray, and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. The human cast, however, has gotten the biggest shake up, with none of the previous actors returning. Instead Mark Wahlberg will play the human lead, and Kelsey Grammar, the human villain. Also present will be T.J. Miller, Nicola Peltz, Bingbing Li, and Stanley Tucci.

The new Transformers is currently filming and will be released on June 27th 2014 in the U.S.

We have to say, it’s awesome to see so many new Chevy vehicles in the cast. But you know what’s just as awesome? The cars themselves. Come on down to our Woodbridge, VA dealership and check out the stellar cars on our lot. They may not be able to transform into giant robots (although we can dream), but you’ll love them all the same.

Recently, two-man driver team consisting of Wayne Gerdes (a blogger) and Bob Winger (an engineer) completed a record breaking roadtrip in a Volkswagen Passat TDI. The road trip, which hits all of the 48 continental U.S. states, is a favorite among those in the automotive industry for attempting to break current fuel consumption records for a given vehicle.

Volkswagen announced the men completed the 8,122 mile (13,071) in just 16 days and with record low fuel consumption, observed and verified by officials of the Guinness World Record Organization. The Volkswagen Passat TDI that completed the journey was produced in the United States at the company’s Chattanooga plant in Tennessee. It returned with an average fuel consumption of 78 miles per gallon or 3.02 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers; this obliterated the previous record of 67.9 miles per gallon.

“We felt we had a good chance of beating the existing record with a series production Passat TDI,” Gerdes said, “but to smash it by averaging 77.99 mpg is really impressive and a testament to the potential of Volkswagen’s TDI vehicles. It shows how much the fuel consumption depends on the driver.”

The Volkswagen Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) diesel engine that Volkswagen’s Passat TDI is equipped with offers an official EPA regulated and tested fuel economy of 43 miles per gallon when paired with a six-speed manual transmission. This translates to 5.5 Liters of fuel consumed per 100 kilometers.

A careful driving technique was clearly the key to demolishing the EPA’s fuel economy highway rating for this vehicle.

In May of 2012, John and Helen Taylor achieved a similar result after driving a stock Passat TDI from Houston, Texas to Sterling, VA. Over the 1,626.1 mile journey, they averaged 84.1 miles per gallon – even better than Wayne and Bob!
