Lexus_lx_570

As the largest Lexus model out there, the 2014 Lexus LX 570 maintains its luxurious side all while offering driver utility that’s near impossible to match. Quiet, smooth, and well-equipped, this Lexus has drivers baffled at its features and high-end amenities, including third-row seats that can fold flat then rotate up 90 degrees and out of the way, making space for whatever you need to load in your cargo area. This high-end sport utility vehicle can seat up to 8 passengers comfortably and offers off-road capabilities that most vehicles simply cannot match. The 2014 Lexus LX 570 emits a sort of “brute luxury,” as Lexus.com puts it, that’s evident in its towing ability (up to 7,000-lb.capacity), the available rear-seat entertainment system, and the Lexus ENFORM with App Suite features. Moreover, it’s a powerful, attractive vehicle that, according to cnet.com, “seamlessly blends luxury and utility.”

Do you have a teen driver in your life who bugs you for a car of their own almost relentlessly? Or, are you looking into cars to purchase all while keeping in mind your teen driver(s) and their safety? Look no further than Lindsay Volkswagen of Dulles . The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently issued a list of the best vehicles for teen drivers including six different Volkswagen models. At Lindsay Automotive, we’re sure you’ll love our selection and have peace of mind when it comes to your loved ones getting behind the wheel. The IIHS conducted this study on teen safety on the road to find safe, stable vehicles that do not tempt teen drivers to drive recklessly.

The Options
Statistics show that 83% of parents buy used vehicles for their teen drivers. The IIHS segmented the list in two:  the Best Options (safest options under $20,000) and the Good Options (safest below $10,000). The Volkswagen vehicles that made the list are as follows:

Why They Qualified
The IIHS looked into a detailed set of considerations while attempting to identify which vehicles qualified for the list of vehicles safest to be operated by teens. You may notice there are no compact cars on this list – that’s due to the fact that larger vehicles handle collisions better than small cars do. Also, none of the standard VW’s listed are tuned up with extraordinary levels of horsepower, as this could lead teens to drive faster or more recklessly. Moreover, each vehicle listed above comes equipped with an electronic stability control (ESC) system, which is a safety feature that senses and recovers from skidding. Each vehicle that made the list met or exceeded safety rating standards.

Safety in Shopping
Keep in mind while searching for a car for your teen that modern vehicles do, in fact, come with advanced safety features that beat out older vehicles; that is why all of the Volkswagen vehicles under the Best Choices list are 2009 or newer. These models all include side air bags and advanced traction control systems that make driving smoother and easier than the Good Choices or older cars. Although teens are more susceptible to driving recklessly and getting in accidents, older vehicles will not protect them against these tendencies as well as newer vehicles do, so buy accordingly.

Regardless of your price range and preferences, this used car list compiled by the IIHS can be a helpful guide to purchasing your teen a safe, reliable, solid car. Lindsay Volkswagen of Dulles is more than happy to help you along the way. Keep us in mind!

The 2014 Lexus IS 250 and 350 models were launched a little over a year ago, and ever since then they’ve made history with records sales. Lexus went with an edgy exterior design, making the IS very sporty, and stuck with V6 engines for both models. The Lexus IS was then tested against the BMW in its segment. The results were startling to most:  on and off the track, the Lexus was the better driver’s car, according to Torque News. Then, Car and Driver tested the IS versus the BMW and the rest in the class of sports sedans (think Audi, Mercedes, Infiniti), and they picked the Lexus, too. Road and Track was up next; they also picked the Lexus IS as best in its class overall.

All of the most reputable car review outlets dutifully reported their findings, and as news spread, Lexus had quite a year – this wasn’t supposed to happen for an American car up against European superiors, but it did. To get even more exhilaration out of your Lexus IS sports sedan, opt for the F SPORT Performance package.

Reducing clutter and adding function, Cadillac will add wireless charging of smartphones in the 2015 model ATS sport sedan and coupe launching this fall. Compatible with Powermat and other in-phone wireless charging technologies, the feature eliminates the need for cords on board.

“A recent survey from IHS revealed that 70 percent of consumers charge their mobile phone at least once per day, with 30 percent charging more than once,” said Ryan Sanderson, associate director, Power Supply & Storage Components at IHS Technology.

“This is driving demand for charging access in multiple locations throughout the day, something wireless charging can address in a more convenient way than the consumer having to carry one or more wired chargers around with them on a daily basis.”

Following its introduction into the 2015 ATS, wireless charging technology will be added to the CTS sport sedan this fall and to the Escalade SUV at the end of 2014.

”With 4G LTE capability and now wireless charging, Cadillac is embedding conveniences that have quickly become essential customer needs,” said Ken Kornas, ATS global product manager.

Powermat enables the phone to simply sit on a rubberized pad. The battery is recharged by means of an electromagnetic field. An increasing number of smartphones have wireless charging either embedded or as an option. The wireless charger GM and Powermat created accommodates the majority of these enabled devices.

“Our lifestyles have evolved in a more mobile way than ever before and with that comes an even greater need for access to power in those places where we spend the majority of our time,” said Powermat CEO Ran Poliakine. “Our integration into the Cadillac ATS is only the first step in the evolution of portable power in places that include your car, your coffee house and even your favorite sporting arena.”

The wireless charging feature will be located inside the storage bin behind the fully motorized center instrument panel faceplate of the ATS. This location creates a convenient option for drivers so they can keep their hands on the wheel. Using Bluetooth, a driver can pair his or her phone to the vehicle and enjoy many of the connectivity elements of the mobile device while it is both out of the way and charging.

Cadillac CUE is the centerpiece of the ATS Coupe’s in-vehicle technologies. For 2015, CUE includes new enhanced content such as a Text-to-Voice feature for smartphone users with Bluetooth profile (M.A.P.), which reads incoming texts through the car’s speakers. Using the feature requires a compatible smartphone with Bluetooth profile and applicable text messaging feature.

About Powermat

Powermat is the pioneer and leader of the wireless power industry. Enjoyed by millions of consumers worldwide, Powermat’s technology was formally adopted by the PMA, and is the platform of choice for such global leaders as Duracell, General Motors, AT&T and Starbucks. Please find out more at PowerMat.com.
